FAQs
The hub-and-spoke distribution model is a logistics strategy where goods are centralized at a main hub (distribution center), sorted, and then delivered to multiple regional spokes (local warehouses or delivery zones). Cross-docking is a related technique where inbound shipments are quickly transferred directly to outbound vehicles with minimal storage. This model improves efficiency, reduces handling, and speeds up order fulfillment across the network.
In this model, shipments arrive at a central hub, are sorted or consolidated, and then immediately sent out to spokes or delivery zones without long-term storage. Cross-docking minimizes dwell time at facilities and ensures faster movement of goods through the supply chain.
Shippers adopt this model to optimize transportation routes, consolidate freight, reduce redundant inventory, and lower overall logistics costs. By centralizing processing at a hub, companies can manage regional deliveries more efficiently and reduce transit times to final destinations.
nuVizz eliminates the "Middle Mile Black Hole" by extending tracking into the four walls of the cross-dock. The system tracks "In-Scan" (arrival at hub) and "Out-Scan" (loaded onto delivery vehicle) events. This granular visibility allows shippers to see exactly when freight arrived, how long it dwelled, and when it left, ensuring that inventory isn't lost during the hand-off between linehaul and final mile.
The platform features Hub Operator Compliance workflows. It forces dock workers (or 3PL partners) to scan handling units (pallets/totes) upon receipt to validate them against the inbound manifest. If a worker attempts to bypass the scan or scans an item not on the manifest, the system triggers an error, preventing the "blind" sorting that leads to lost freight.
Yes, the platform supports Dynamic Pool Distribution. Once the linehaul truck arrives at the hub, the system can dynamically re-optimize the final delivery routes based on the actual freight received (handling unexpected shortages or volume spikes). This ensures that the local fleet is used efficiently, rather than running static routes that might be half-empty.
nuVizz creates a Digital Handshake at every touchpoint. The Hub Receiver must digitally sign/scan to accept custody from the Linehaul Driver, and the Final Mile Driver must scan to accept custody from the Hub. This unbroken chain of digital "custody transfers" ensures that there is always a specific named party responsible for the inventory at any given second.
The application enforces Scan-to-Load Validation. When a driver or dock worker loads a truck, they must scan the barcode of each item. If they attempt to load a package destined for "Route A" onto the truck for "Route B," the app triggers a loud audio warning and blocks the action, preventing cross-shipping errors that are expensive to fix later.
